Lake Management District Update

posted Mar 19, 2018, 1:37 PM by Mason Benson Center

By now, you should have received a "notice of public hearing" regarding the Mason Lake, Lake Management District (LMD), scheduled for April 17, 2018.  This is one of the steps required for the continuation of current LMD, which expires at the end of this year.  After the public hearing, the Mason County Commissioners will make a decision on whether to go forward with the process.  If they elect to do so, Mason Lake residents will receive a ballot to vote yes or no on the new term of the LMD.  We are requesting $.11 per $1,000 assessed valuation ($500,000 home would amount to $55 per year), down from the current $.16 per $1,000 assessed.  The money collected goes for the ongoing survey, mapping, and treatment of noxious and invasive species of plant life in Mason Lake. The volunteer LMD#2 Committee asks for your continued support in keeping these invasive species at bay.  As always, if you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact me, or any one of the committee members.  Additional information is available by clicking on the "noxious weed" link on the left.
